A small boy said to his mother, “When I grow up I want to be a musician.”
She replied, “you can’t do both son!”

Belated Xmas and New Year wishes to all. Slack aren’t we? January is almost over, we’ve seen half the country go under in floodwater, Rick has been fishing from the verandah at Reid Island and I’m only just getting the seasons greetings out there.
First Irish nite for the year was a half decent one. Sadly we say goodbye to Tom (Tam – for the uninitiated) and Shona who after a few years in Oz and becoming regular Irish Niters have decided they miss the kids too much. But look out …I have their email address and will be chasing them up in Scotland in June. I look foward to it.
“Have a great holiday on your way home guys and best wishes to the family.”
Good on ya Baz. You know life gets busy after retirement. No time for fishing now.
So we’ve just done Irish nite without Rick as he is busy organizing tomorrows wedding. Did have a Rick there though, from Nowra just passing through, and he played bodhran too but we had nothing for him to thump away on. He did show us his bass uke. A lefty (so no good for me). You could almost fire arrows off the strings but great sound. Come back again sometime Rick.
Rilla was back and lovely to see her again. We played Margarita specially for her being Canadian (whether she actually likes Great Big Sea or not). And Lindo who joined in for Rockin in the free world. Mauzi came in with Grae & Jude and says she’s now an Irish nite convert. Good Stuff.
End of night while packing up somebody flogged my stubby holder …not cool …oh well. Time I got a new one anyway.
So …congratulations on the retirement Baz. More time to practice now so you won’t forget when the capo goes on and what fret.
I hadn’t done anything blogwise with this as yet, even though the gig was back on the 20th March, because I wanted to ask permission to use some of Rotary’s photos. I can work out how to contact them from their flickr page so I might just put some up anyway. I’m sure they won’t mind.
Now that I’ve left it so long I’m a bit lost for what to write. It was a great night! I’ll start with that. We had a few technical hiccups to start with but with a bit of diplomacy they were ironed out.
Thanks to the District Governor and his lovely wife, John and Margaret Cameron, appropriatly in official dress.
Over 700 attendees who were mostly in period costume and what effort some people went to. We were astonished.
Well done Rotarians! Absolutely fantastic!
And the Winners!
Naked Bush Poet (he wasn’t really thankfully), Murray Hartin, joined us to keep the mob entertained with his witty tales finishing with his masterpiece “Turbulance”.
….and so began the dancing.
And thankyou to the crew. A job wel done.
Link to Rotary’s Flickr page with hundreds of great photos from the whole conference.
Go check it out.

And they do.
This was at the Lawrence Pub on Australia Day a few years ago.
……and we don’t know where he are.
Actually we do but we’re not telling. I might even go and join him for a night this friday but we have to be back for Averly’s birthday gig at Sawtell on saturday night.
